We pride ourselves here at Polymath Business Systems for having been continuously associated with the Macintosh since its introduction in 1984 and with Apple Computer (using Apple ][, Apple /// and Lisa computers) for a few years before that. We were a Founding Member of the original Macintosh Consultants Network (a group of independent computer consultants) in the late 80's through mid 90's and have been involved in Apple-sponsored consultants' programs ever since. This includes being a Certified Member in the current Apple Consultants Network program. Not many companies have such a long and unbroken track record with this innovative company!

While our primary business during most of those years has involved cross-platform, high end database application development software, we have continued to use Macintosh computers for all of our development and training work worldwide. The Macintosh makes a great business machine! We are happy to show you how to get the most out of your investment in this cutting edge technology.

And don't be intimidated by our long years of service to corporate and professional markets. We are well known for our ability to explain complex concepts and processes in simple terms. At international conferences, we are often asked to present both the major part of the introductory track and selected topics in the most advanced track, reflecting both our ability to educate the newcomer and our depth of knowledge. Whatever your level of confidence, we can help you when you need it!

A brief word to business and non-profit clients: For the same reasons we use Macintosh computers, we use Omnis Studio (and its predecessors) for our database application development work. This is the only product that allows us to develop applications for Macintosh, Windows, Linux and Sun Solaris using only Macintosh computers - and yet have those applications look exactly the way each platform expects without the need for rewriting, recompilation or other auxiliary processes. This includes sharing data on mixed networks of any or all of the above platforms. Omnis Studio also allows these applications to run against any of the major SQL database products in their native syntax (rather than being constrained by ODBC) without changing our code base. We depart from Apple in this one area: We feel that Filemaker is second class software compared with Omnis Studio - and we can prove it! Of course, this paragraph may be meaningless to most readers of this page, but this must be said for our small business and enterprise visitors. For more information on this subject, see the Omnis Training section of this web site.

It has been brought to our attention by people at Apple that there are many of its customers who could benefit from our skills in explaining the use of software and complex workflows. This is especially true for the multimedia products that run on the Mac OS X platform, but it also applies to just getting set up and learning about the many features and add-on products and services Mac OS X has to offer. Because of this faith that Apple has shown in us, we now offer local assistance for computer setup, wired and wireless networking, server setup and administration, software installation and a host of other services for both residential and business customers. These services are offered on an appointment basis in greater New England (NH, VT, ME, MA, CT and RI) and in New York City, but we expect most requests to come from southern NH and northeastern MA. We have special rates for these services for small businesses - and even lower rates for residential and non-profit customers. The Macintosh Professional Services section of this web site, which you are now reading, offers more information on these services. Just use the navigation menu on the left.

We also offer classroom training and hands-on workshops in a variety of multimedia software applications and video production processes - with a special emphasis on helping you get your message (advertising, promotion or educational) out on DVD. More information about these can be found in the Art Techo section of this website.
