OmniScience is back and better than ever! OmniScience was the original technical journal for Omnis developers and Omnis Studio has increased the need for this level of technical information.
The new OmniScience has been converted from a newsletter-style journal to two collections of reference manual volumes we call the “Omnis Reference Library” and the “Component Companion Series”. Each volume in each set is a comprehensive treatment of some aspect of the current generation of Omnis — and each is intended to be revised as Omnis matures into new generations.
The first volume of the Omnis Reference Library series is now available. It is titled “Variables and Fields” and you are sure to gain new insight into Omnis Studio from reading it. The retail price of each of the volumes in this series is US$30.00. You can also sign up for automatic delivery of the books in this series (and get a discount on them as well) by joining “David’s Smartlist”.
The volumes in the Component Companion Series will be priced individually. Members of “David’s SmartList” will receive advanced notice of their release and an opportunity to purchase them at a discount as well.
There is a separate page of detailed information on purchasing and/or subscribing to the new OmniScience.
You will need certain software to access and use OmniScience:

StuffIt Expander |
Because of the many files now included with an OmniScience issue and because we now deliver each issue electronically, we have to put everything in a single package for transmission. We have chosen to use StuffIt Deluxe for this process as it is available for both Macintosh and Windows platforms as is the free StuffIt Expander from the same company. |

Adobe Acrobat Reader |
The basic OmniScience journal is delivered in .pdf format. This format also allows for hyperlinks, links to multimedia files, text and audio annotations and many other enhancements that are used liberally throughout OmniScience. Acrobat Reader from Adobe is used to view such files and is available for both Macintosh and Windows platforms. |

QuickTime Player |
Why make static diagrams and illustrations when its so easy to make videos? Some future OmniScience issues will include video content. And the most versatile format for delivering multimedia content today is QuickTime! A QuickTime Player is available for both Macintosh and Windows. |
In support of the OmniScience Omnis Reference Library is the technical section of the Polymath Business Systems website. If you have not yet seen OmniScience, this site allows you to sample some of the in-depth information from classic issues so you can ascertain whether you might benefit from current offerings. Some of the things you can do here include:
Feel free to return often as this area should be updated frequently. And get ready for an announcement about the availability of online, video-based training on our new web site OmnisTraining.com.
